Low Carb Diets That Work- Don’t Make This Bad Mistake With A Low Carb Diet

I must confess that I have always been a fan of low carb diets that work. My personal training clients are constantly coming to me for advice on diets, and frequently I will suggest a low carb diet. Unfortunately, some of them don’t heed ALL of my directions while on the diet. The result being that they experience frequent plateaus, and inconsistent weight loss. I generally discover that most of them are making this one big mistake!

During the course of just about any diet, there are periods of time when an individual is following the plan, and not losing any weight. These frustrating periods of time are commonly referred to as a plateau.

Most plateaus are caused by fluid retention, particularly if the intake of sodium (salt) IS NOT reduced while on the diet. Water is quite frequently retained right beneath the surface of the skin.

On most low carb diets that work, dieters tend to lose a great amount of water weight during the initial stages of the diet. Generally, during the first 2 weeks or so. The reason for this fluid loss is that carbohydrates act as a “dam” for body fluids. When carbohydrates are drastically reduced, the body “dumps” water that had been retained in body tissues.

However, after this initial loss of water weight, dieters notice that their weight loss dramatically decreases. In fact, their weight may increase a bit! This is caused by the body’s need to take back the water that was lost during the initial stages of the diet.

The mistake that these dieters generally make is not drinking enough water when starting the low carb diet. This is also true of low carb diets that work. Dieters MUST drink at least 8, full glasses of water daily, to curtail fluid retention.

It is interesting that consuming more water PREVENTS water being held. This occurs because the kidneys are working “overtime”, constantly releasing water.

Weight Loss Plans That Work & Why – Lose Weight With a Sensible Diet and not a Dangerous One

Would I be right in saying that you are looking to lose weight or get back in shape after being shapeless for awhile, maybe through over eating or after giving birth. What is it with fat loss mania so as to speak that when we see a little excess fat, it`s like the end of the world. Sometimes flab can be toned and firmed without having to go without food as some people explain the diet. This is not true about diets because there are many dieting programs that help you lose weight while eating what you like, but within moderation. If firming and toning is not an option for you because your flab ripples then it is possible you will need to diet before toning and firming is considered.

The most vital issue to be addressed when you`re looking to lose weight is, choosing a diet that works and not one that poses a threat to your health. Yes you heard right, even though you may look to lose weight to better your health it can it fact twist this and cause more serious problems, even death.

There are more than enough promotions of ways to lose weight out there, however choosing the right one ideally suited to you and your budget, and more importantly gives you the results you wish to achieve in shedding the pounds is the one you want. But the big but is where a person starts to find one worthy of its promise and that is safe where there is no fear of coming to harm. Some people take pot luck which is not a wise move and others swear by others testimonials because they are living proof of a diet working or not. If I were looking to lose weight then there is no debate as to the ideal option I would choose to help me make my mind up. As like with diets they all differ just like people, so weight loss plans need to created around you and specially to meet your needs for them to work.

Advice below on how to choose a diet that’s ideal for you. Never embark on the unknown without getting a second opinion from your GP or dietician.

1. If you are inactive, choose a diet that highlights exercise.

2. If sweets are you`re downfall, consider the Carbohydrate Addict diet.

3. If you are insulin-resistant and not grossly overweight, consider the GO-diet.

4. If you have blood sugar or cholesterol problems, consider the Dr. Atkins diet.

5. If you weight lift, check for the Targeted Ketogenic or Cycling Ketogenic diets.

6. If you`re vegetarian and want a more rigorous diet, or have liver or gallbladder problems, try one of the low-fat diets.

7. If you`re just looking for change to pleasure in simpler foods, try a short-term fast (no longer than 72 hours.)

8. If you contemplate overindulging high-sugar and fatty foods, try the Raw Food or Macrobiotics diets.

9. If you feel you cannot diet alone join a reputable weight-loss program like Weight Watchers.

10. If you are in search of a spirituality-based program, check into the Weigh Down diet.

11. If you don’t like restrictive diets, (who does) try Suzanne Somers’ diet.

12. If you go on a low-carb diet but find it hard to give up fruits and unlimited vegetables, try the Protein Power diet.

13. If you have heart or blood pressure issues, avoid Ephedrine-containing diet pills.

14. If you have obesity-related health problems, ask your physician if you can benefit from one of the weight-loss prescription drugs.

If you are adamant to lose weight come hell or high water, then good for you. Nonetheless be careful on diet selection. No matter how good and tempting the spiel comes across for a particular diet promotion – telling you it is the best on the market is not good enough for you to jump in head first and part with your money or your life. Do not trust diets that promise fast weight loss without any effort. This will never happen as there will always be a little work on your part needed regardless.

Things like cutting out greasy grub and replacing with grilled food is far more healthy and ideal for helping to lose weight, and watch the difference if you cut down from having two sugars in tea or coffee to one spoonful. Choose a diet that you know can be a part of your life style it will make the process so much easier and enjoyable. Through my own experience, although I have never had a weight problem, I did notice I had put on weight when I would eat in bed, yes you heard right “in bed” and not before. I couldn`t resist munching while reading a novel by Catherine Cookson, thankfully I was quick reader. It was the information gathered from the (fat loss 4 idiots weight loss plan) that I lost the weight. The information was invaluable at the time where I found that putting the book down and going to sleep was the solution.

Fad diets are not the best way to lose weight and keep it off. The name alone should be enough to have you cautious and to stay clear. Fad diet plans often promise to help you lose excess amount of weight rapidly, or tell you to cut certain foods. Although you may see results at first they are still unhealthy because they lay a restriction on essential nutrients the body needs. By improving your eating and exercise habits, you will develop a healthier lifestyle and control your weight. You also reduce risk of developing heart disease, high blood pressure, and diabetes.

Selecting the right diet is only made difficult if you choose to ignore the signs that say a diet is safe. And those signs are to speak with an expert.

Do Diets Really Work?

It seems as if just about everyone has tried a diet or weight loss plan at one time or another – and it also seems that every time you turn around, there’s another new diet that promises results with very little effort. For example, there are and have been some crazy fad diets floating around…the popcorn & ice cream diet, the soup diet, the sardine diet, the hot dog diet, and now there’s…. the cookie diet !!!

Some popular diets today are: the South Beach diet, the Zone diet, the Atkins diet, Macrobiotics, Weight Watchers, Raw Foods, Life Choice….etc. and they promise to deliver – if you can stay with the program to the letter.

But the question is: do any of these diets really work ? If some of these popular, highly advertised diet plans do achieve the weight loss promised, why do so many dieters tend to re-gain their weight back, and more times than not, why do they eventually end up gaining back more weight than when they started on the diet?

From experience, I can tell you this : these diets are not made for everyone – if every person who wanted to lose weight all went on the same diet, it would work for some, and not for others. Everyone has a different metabolism, different systemic needs, different digestion – every person is an individual with a body system that is different in some way from every other person.

Popular diet plan promoters want you to believe that everyone who is really motivated to lose weight, should choose their special _____________( fill in the blank…) diet – and they will lose weight and succeed !!! And of course, they show you numerous “before and after” photos to convince you that their diet is the only one that really works, and that you too will soon be thin and attractive.

Many people have had success with low carb and other popular diets. On the other hand, many others fail on these diets, as not every diet is for every person. Some diet-educated people actually make up their own personalized diet and this works for them…but in most cases, losing weight requires guidance, discipline, and life style changes which a good diet guide or diet plan can provide.

So, if you need to lose weight, do some research and learn all that you can before starting on any diet. Look it up online and check out the successes – and the side effects… Consult your doctor and take the diet information with you and ask questions.

In my own experience with dieting I learned Rule # 1 about weight loss: If you take in more calories than you burn off every day, you will gain weight. If you burn off more calories than you take in, you will lose weight – sounds simple and it is, but even this rule has it’s own rules… a starvation diet of 1,000 calories a day will eventually put your system on “hold” – you won’t lose any more weight, as your body thinks it’s starving, and will “hold on” to any calorie it can get for survival. Eventually, you will eat – and gain.

I have personally found that a balanced daily diet combined with different forms of exercise up to 3 hours per week works best for me – but many people don’t have the time to exercise 2 to 3 hours or more…

As mentioned above, it’s best to do the research on any diet that you are interested in first, and then make an educated decision for yourself.

You Should Know How Your Diet Is Supposed To Work

The vast majority of people start dieting in order to lose weight. Losing weight can be accomplished in a number of ways. A diet is simply a specific method for accomplishing that task.

When one decides that they need to lose weight, the first thing that must be considered is the reason for wanting to lose weight. Is the weight loss going to be directed at a way to gain better health or is it more of a vanity reason? The reason for dieting is as important as the method used to lose the weight.

If attaining a more healthy lifestyle and striving for better health is the reason, it should not be of any concern how long the dieting takes to achieve the weight loss goal, if in fact there is a goal. If good health is the main objective, length of time should not be an issue because the diet should simply be a part of a life-style change in which the dieting change would be a long-term part of the life-style anyway.

If, on the other hand, vanity is the reason and the dieting person is hell bent on losing a significant amount of weight in a short period of time in order to fit into an object of clothing or simply to look great at the class reunion in a month, the method chosen for dieting will be completely different and, most likely, quite unhealthy.

Long term lifestyle type diets are usually of the type that occur in small increments of weight loss and continue as exercise is slowly increased and more healthy food, in smaller portions is consumed. These are usually quite simple diets that don’t cause a significant amount of suffering as long as the dieting person is committed to the long-term goals.

The vanity type diet is usually a quick but very self-denying diet in which the dieting person eats very little or eats foods that do not tempt the pallet as far as taste or attractiveness go. Often, very large amounts of water are incorporated into these diets and most people do not drink enough water to begin with. When they are confronted with the need to increase their water intake significantly, they hesitate or they are not very compliant. Water, when one is not thirsty, simply does not taste very good.

The vanity diet also usually requires a substantial increase in activity in the form of exercise and most people have a strong aversion to that form of activity.

There are also diets that are not in either the lifestyle change nor the vanity dieting lists but are really a forced lifestyle change that is completely necessary for the dieting person to continue to live. Once such diet is the diabetic diet. If one ignores their diabetes and continues to eat large amounts of carbohydrates, as most Americans do, they will eventually suffer serious health deterioration. So, the necessary-for-life diets are not the ones we are really concerned with in this article.

There are a number of different diets available for each of the non-necessity diets. The basic lifestyle change diet has already been described though some of the latter day fad diets are also appropriate for long-term dieting if the person doing the dieting is indeed dedicated to the lifestyle change. Some specific fad diets that would work for this person are the Atkins or low-carb diet, The Zone diet or the South Beach diet.

The extreme vanity diet person can also use the low carb diet for fast weight loss or they can try starvation or if they really want to lose weight fast and suffer a bit more but at least retain some type of decent health, they can attempt the Lemonade Diet.

The lemonade diet is highly effective but is more a fast than a diet and a special mixture of water, cayenne pepper, lemon juice and syrup are required. One must be highly dedicated to losing weight for this diet to work as no food is allowed for a period of at least ten days and the Lemonade dieter will feel worse before they feel like a million dollars. The diet is extremely effective for losing ten pounds or more in ten days though. The added benefit of this diet is that it does a thorough job of cleaning the colon.

Each one of the above mentioned diets should be highly suspect and not just accepted for it’s reputation or the current fad. One who is considering dieting should, at the very least, buy the book that is written about the diet in order to learn how the diet works with the body and effects the different body systems. Each of the authors has a lot of information included in their book about these concerns.

The main point of this article is to point out to anyone who is considering dieting that they should be very careful and choose a diet that meets their goals and health concerns. Don’t blindly go into any diet without knowing how it’s supposed to effect you, what you’re supposed to eat while on the diet, how much weight you are expected to lose in a specific period of time and what are the benefits and health concerns that attach to that diet.

In fact, it is a very good idea to discuss any diet plans with your health care professional prior to starting or even considering one of the above diets.

Natural Arthritis Treatment For Arthritis Pain Relief You Can Put To Work Today

During my long nursing career I was never able to find relief from my own arthritis pain until I turned to natural or alternative medicine. Many people have found there was a way to relieve themselves from the crippling pain of arthritis, especially osteoarthritis, although many people with rheumatoid arthritis have reported that a major diet change has made their rheumatoid arthritis symptoms disappear and they continue on their own rheumatoid arthritis treatment relieved of pain.

The arthritic joints usually appear to be even larger, are stiff and painful, and usually feel worse the more they are used as the day goes on. Hurtful arthritis pain is usually experienced whenever a stiff or swollen joint is used even for the easiest tasks. Unlike other types of arthritis, such as rheumatoid arthritis or ankylosing spondilytis, osteoarthritis is not systemic in basis in other words it can’t be detected by using blood tests for diagnosis because it appears to be localized.

The cartilage is made up of chondrocytes, water, proteoglycans and collagen. The chondrocytes are basic cartilage cells and are essential for our balance and function. Collagen is the main protein found in all the connective tissues in the human body, including muscles, ligaments, and tendons. Proteoglycans are the very large molecules that help to make up cartilage. They bond to water, which ensures there will be high-fluid content in the cartilage.

In general, the possible causes and the factors leading to the deterioration of cartilage in arthritis and specifically osteoarthritis are still not known. And injuries can sometimes be the start of a long-term arthritic disease process. Arthritis, or rather osteoarthritis, can develop many years later after a single traumatic injury to a joint or even near a joint. And one possible cause of arthritis is the inflammatory response due to the over-reaction of the immune system to an injury or other assault in the body, such as an infection, even if minor.

Some people report that glucosamine, with or without chondroitin, helps and others say they tried them and they didn’t help them at all. To see if it might be allergy related – or helps, you can try avoiding the eight most allergic foods, one at a time. They are wheat, which is the most allergenic of all, corn, eggs, milk, nuts, peanuts, fish and shellfish. Keep in mind that if you take a joint supplement it should help to do three things – build up your cartilage, provide pain relief for your joints and enhance your flexibility and movement.

One successful natural treatment method involves avoiding all inflammatory foods. Another is to try massaging your fingers or other affected joints with virgin coconut oil once or twice a day. The supplements that may help any disease or arthritic ailment include sublingual methylcobalamin, vitamin B12, not cyanocobalamin. It dissolve slowly under the tongue, not be chewed and vitamin D3 gel capsules, especially if you can’t get a daily dose of 15 to 20 minutes or so of the sun on your arms and legs so you can make your own vitamin D3.

An acidic diet, which is made up of foods that are not alive, is considered to be inflammatory to the joints and other body processes. I started eating a diet of living foods (fruits, raw veggies, raw nuts and raw seeds), years ago, which caused my osteoarthritis to disappear and therefore relieve me of the crippling arthritis pain I had for years. If you attempt this diet it’s best to try it for at least 30 days, thereby eliminating any foods that might be the culprits.

If you really do want to get rid of your arthritis pain permanently it may take a major change in your diet and an ongoing commitment to it. Exercise is usually good for any joint affected by osteoarthritis, but check with your arthritis doctor first. And did I mention how important it is to make sure to keep moving, moving, and moving? Now if you have pain and swelling in your fingers, you can try squeezing a wad of Thera-putty which is made for this purpose, or exercising them with two of the Chinese chime balls which you can get cheaply from several sources. There are many exercises that can be used as a therapy or treatment for arthritis regardless of how much restriction of movement there is.

For arthritic fingers, a good exercise for many people is to put the finger tips together and press hard and release then repeat several times. Make sure to fight arthritis through plenty of movement and exercise. Keep a basket of arthritis treatment aids for arthritic hands, such as the Thera-putty, hand grips, and the Taiji Chinese chime balls to be used at bedtime or while you’re watching television.

Once you become completely knowledgeable about arthritis whether its osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, gouty arthritis, juvenile arthritis, or ankylosing spondylitis, you’ll be able to plan your own arthritis treatment program, natural or conventional or a combination of both. Conventional arthritis doctors may suggest their standard protocol for your joint pain and may tell you to take over-the-counter NSAIDS or prescribe COX-2 inhibitors which all have some serious side effects. Make sure you do your research before you take any arthritis drugs, medicines or medications. Naturopathic doctors may have other suggestions not listed here. They may have herb recommendations but do research on the herbs also.

A useful tip: if you’re going to take any arthritis drugs or prescription medications, make sure to ask your pharmacist for the drug inserts so you can read up on the drugs and understand any side effects or adverse reactions that they have, before you start taking them. Make sure to let your pharmacist know what other drugs, herbs and over the counter medications you’re taking too.

Knowing more about symptoms and treatments for arthritis, osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis and how they work will ultimately help contribute to your arthritis pain relief. Once you understand the facts and warnings about arthritis, the symptoms, possible causes and the treatment approaches you can take, you’ll be on your way to recovery and hopefully your pain will disappear. Perhaps following some these tips and suggestions, with the approval of your arthritis doctor may help you get back in the swing of things fast and allow you to spend your days enjoying life free of pain once more.

How to find good diets that actually work

Finding good diets that actually work can take time. The effort spent on researching information on diets and whether or not they have been successful for others is definitely worth it. Some diets can help people lose weight quickly in the beginning. This is great motivation to keep going and keep losing weight.

A good diet will include information on nutrition, healthy weight loss, exercise and better eating habits. Look for a diet that includes all of these factors and then go through the steps outlined here to find a good diet that actually works.

First, begin by identifying how much weight you need to lose. Take your body height and build into consideration as you do this.

Second, decide how long you have to lose weight. It may be ideal to lose ten pounds fast and then take some time to lose the final fifteen. Losing too much weight too quickly is definitely not healthy. It is commonly known that anyone can lose approximately two pounds a week without compromising their health

Once the goals are set it is time to research diets plans. Watch out for fad diets. They may sound good but in all likelihood they will not work in the long run.

Try to find a diet that has nutritional support and recipies. These two things can often be the difference between success and failure. Also, choose a diet that understands how the body works and that different people need different things. This will increase the chance of long term weight loss.

Finally, choose a diet that makes sense to you and fits into your lifestyle. Don’t try to become a vegetarian if you love meat – the raw diet simply will not work for you. Choose a diet that works with you instead of against you. If it sounds too difficult then it will probably not work for you.

Once you have found a diet you need to follow it to see the pounds come off. Many people follow parts of a diet and ignore the aspects of it that do not appeal to them. This will simply not work. Not following a diet plan will certainly lead a dieter down the path to failure.

Finally, try to find a newsletter or weight loss forum to keep you informed and motivated. Getting regular advice and support is essential to success and to find good diets that actually work.
